The current degree project explores the teaching experiences of language immersion course teachers at Astangu Vocational and Rehabilitation Centre. The project focused on finding ways to support teachers taking up a new role as a language teacher without much previous experience and preparation.

In 2022 Astangu Vocational and Rehabilitation Centre opened a language immersion course for mainly Russian-speaking students with special needs. Teachers who are part of the course are usually subject teachers teaching art, life skills, and mathematics. In the context of language immersion course, they took up the role of teaching the subjects to the students in Estonian. The language teaching approach used is called content and language-integrated learning. There is an existing body of supportive language teaching materials available but navigating the new landscape takes a lot of time from the busy teachers.

My contribution is a concept for a language lesson generator that enables teachers to create lesson scripts using pre-set prompts based on language teaching frameworks. In addition, the platform also enables teachers to share already created study materials for finding inspiration or actual use.
